September 14th (Morning)

A chilly 7° this morning! Of course, I have now been looking into warmer gloves and shoe covers to warm up the extremities… Granted, I think I should be able to have another month yet ‘till those are needed, but you never know!

The sun was coming up this morning (very little cloud cover for once), but the trail was still pretty wet and spongy. Great for traction, but not so great for trying to not wear the glasses as the mud has a magic tendency to go right for the unprotected eyes… Steaming mad

The little rocky corner/dip on the single-track on Frolek’s land still thwarted me. Granted, I did make it with only putting my foot down twice. When compared to pushing my bike through that section as I normally do, that is definitely an improvement! I also made the west bank coming up out of Peterson’s Creek, and then I made the steep climb right after that, so almost a 100% perfect run this morning. Sweet!

It felt good to be on my bike again, mainly because it’s larger and I like the narrower saddle. However, my brakes hardly even compare to the power the Corrie’s bike has! I have heard that the cheapo mechanical disk brakes are worse than good V-brakes, and now I can attest to that truth. Hopefully I will be able to upgrade these when and if I get a bonus this year. Better braking means more control and confidence, which is lacking in my riding for sure.

Well, I think it’s time to open up the pocket book for some lights… I keep leaving later each morning, trying to keep in the light but I can’t leave much later and still be on time for work, so I’ll have to seriously consider lights very soon. Maybe this weekend I’ll put an order in?
