The cold weather cometh!

So I placed two orders today…

One from eBay for a MagicShine 900 lumen light (see a good review here). For the price, I felt it was too good to be true and kept looking at other lights. Then, I decided to research this light and found out that most people searching for a light are thinking the same thing I am, it can’t be right! However, I have found multiple reviews, forum posts, etc. praising this light for it’s brightness and yet cheap price (it is comparable to $400 lights in brightness and options). Some say the quality may not be as good, but for under $100, I could buy FOUR before getting to the same investment. So is the quality 4x better on the more expensive lights? According to most reviewers, NO. Many believe this light will force the big manufacturers to seriously re-work their products and pricing to stay in the market! So, I took the plunge and ordered one. If it is as good as they say, I may order a second for my helmet when the mornings get REALLY dark.

I also placed an order from MEC. I ordered a taillight, some bite valves and stuff for my water pack, tubes and a patch kit and a chain cleaner, and then even some warmer gloves and shoe/toe covers! Yep, it’s getting to that time of year, and this morning even at 7° my fingers and toes were hurting a bit. So once the temperature drops to sub-zero’s in the mornings, I want to be comfortable. We’ll see how it goes for leg warmth, but typically I have found that my legs, while pretty cold at first on the chilly mornings, do warm up very fast so I doubt I’ll need anything too soon.

Yep, fall is here and if I expect to continue riding I have to adapt! I think for what I spent today, it is pretty cheap compared to the $4-500 I was expecting to spend for these items (thanks MEC and MagicShine!).
