A decent ride home as far as physically, but technically not so great. I couldn’t make the first section coming up out of Peterson’s Creek. I hit the root, and tried to do a quick 1/2 back pedal as I thought I was going to hit my pedal on the root. In doing so, I lost just the momentum needed to get my back wheel over the root and spun out. I then attempted the next little steep climb, but didn’t even make it 1/2 way. Next, was the climb up out of the valley which I, again, failed to maintain a straight line and had to stop. Frustrating!!!
The rest of the trail went pretty well. My legs were VERY tired at the end of the gulley trails, more so than usual? I think that is partly due to the fact that I’m concentrating on getting off of the seat, where I’ve been lazy in the past and kept my butt planted on the saddle. Keeping my body on the saddle can create much more issues on the trail, and I have less control as I can’t move the bike independently from my body when needed. So, in trying to do so my legs are getting quite the workout and I hope to have those muscles trained up to snuff shortly!
Well, to continue with the frustrations, the final hill at Rose Hill I thought I was going to actually make it! I made it into the sand pocket and through the first section where I normally have lost all traction. I spun a bit, but managed to keep going and got about 2 feet into the sand pocket, thinking I was going to make the climb, when the wheel suddenly sunk into the sand pocket by about 3 inches… So frustrating, especially when I was thinking I’d make it finally! Arrggg… Maybe tomorrow???
