November 2nd (Morning)

Not too much to write about this morning. The light on the helmet is by far the best setup, and I’m really enjoying the flexibility of having the light up there. The temperature was supposedly about 4°, but it felt a lot warmer than that. Strange, last night it said 16° and it felt closer to 12°. This morning said 4° yet felt closer to 8°? Maybe the guys at the airport are screwing around with the thermometer? Winking smile

Physically I didn’t feel top notch at all today. I still felt like I had the energy and reserves/strength when needed, but it did seem that the climbs were more painful. It seems that on days where I have my best rides, it is simply because they don’t really hurt and so I push harder. Seems strange I know.

As I was going along the top of Summit drive, I decided I wasn’t going to do any sprinting or standing today, just relax and enjoy the ride. Well, the light again turned green as I was a block away at the end of Summit, so true to my word (not!) I stood up and sprinted the distance to make the light! Winking smile Then, at the beginning of Howe Road, I stood and cranked it up the first hill. Finally, going through the trailer park at the end, again I found myself standing and cranking the final stretch. Hmmm….

A rather large tree (large as in circumference) has fallen across the trail between the trailer park and Pineview. Thankfully the terrain in that area is flat enough that I can ride through the grass to bypass it. I highly doubt this tree will be cleaned up any time soon, as it would be a large amount of work to do so for sure! It just means I lose my momentum for the little climb at the end of the trail, but no big deal really. Glad I wasn’t under it when it fell, this one would’ve hurt! Surprised smile
